The founders of The Training Tree bring together a unique experience in working with change in organisations, knowledge of making learning effective and networking across the spectrum of business consultants, change agents, trainers, facilitators and coaches.

Melaine Harris - Director

Melanie is the visionary behind the creation of the The Training Tree, and is its leading director. Coming from a German-English family, she has aspired to an international outlook and involves herself in activities in different parts of the globe. Qualified in marketing after taking an honours degree in Biological sciences at Edinburgh University, she studied international trade, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and training. She is committed to social enterprise and encourages all directors and associates of The Training Tree to support such ventures with time and expertise. Mel has worked for Scottish Executive sponsored projects and continues to be associated with Scottish Business in the Community and Determined to Succeed.

 

Mel has spent 12 years in marketing and business development of SMEs ranging across restaurants, associations, manufacturing, document and information management and storage, water purification, self build and Scottish Enterprise programmes for the training and recruitment of long term unemployed and Job coaches.  Mel has also spent 10 years training young people

 

Mel is an ardent member of Junior Chamber International, taking her local organisation to a world award as Best Chamber in 2005. She is currently Deputy President of Junior Chamber Scotland, which takes her to various parts of the world to interact with members from the more than 100 countries that make up the organisation. An accomplished speaker, Mel has delivered speeches and presentations in many countries.

 

Qualifications: BSC Honours Medical Microbiology, Overseas Trade Certificates for International Marketing and International Trade and Payments (1995), Physical Distribution (1999) and International Trade Law (2000) Institute of Export., NLP Business Practioner, Certificate in Hypnotherapy and Certificate in Management. JCI Certified National Trainer.

 

Membership of Institutions: Associate of Chartered Institute of Marketing, Institute of Training and Occupational Learning and National Register of Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists.

 

Mel has worked for: goodpractice, JCI, Shaw Marketing and Design, Scottish business in the Community, Cyrenians, HBOS, Action Group, The Pool, BuildStore, Heat and Control Ltd, Stortext, Restaurant Marketing Association, Ridgemont, Spice, Tangerine Club and The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.
